Unboxing Your Conference Phone Essential Ports and Cabling for Connection Power and Charge the Conference Phone Connect the Conference Phone to the Internet Ethernet Connection Wi-Fi Connection Optional Ports and Accessories

Unboxing Your Conference Phone

In the packaging your Grandstream conference phone arrives in, you will have the phone itself, a PoE injector, an ethernet cable for connecting the conference phone, and a micro-USB cable for connecting the conference phone to another device, such as a PC.

Essential Ports and Cabling for Connection

The phone itself will have the following ports on the back of it that the cabling will need to be connected to:

  • LAN Port - Connect an ethernet cable from an internet source (e.g., switch, ethernet wall port, wireless access point, or router) to the LAN port on the PoE Injector box.
  • Network Port - Connect an ethernet cable from the Network port of the PoE Injector box to the Network Port
  • Power Port - Connect the provided IEC C6 power cord to the Power port of the PoE Injector and an AC wall outlet.
  • Media (M) Port - If you need to connect the conference phone to another device, such as a GVC32XX series camera or PC, connect the devices using an ethernet cable.

Quick Tip: Connecting a GVC32XX camera to the GAC conference phone will allow you to use the Conference Control application of the phone to control the GVC camera. This will also allow users to access the GAC phone's contact list, call interface, scheduling function, and camera features from the GVC camera device.

Power and Charge the Conference Phone

Before the conference phone can be used, it will need to be connected to power. Connecting the device to power using the PoE Injector will help charge its built-in battery so that the conference phone can be used wirelessly if needed.

  1. Connect the IEC C5 power cable to the IEC C6 Power port of the PoE Injector and an AC wall outlet.
  2. Connect an ethernet cable to the Media ports of the PoE Injector and the conference phone.
  3. Hold down the Power button on the conference phone for 5 seconds to turn it on.
  4. Allow the device's battery to charge before disconnecting it from the PoE Injector.
  5. If the conference phone is disconnected and relying on its battery, be sure to charge the device regularly using the PoE Injector.

Connect the Conference Phone to the Internet

Before you can get started conference calling with your Grandstream conference phone, it will need to be connected to power and a source of internet. The GAC2570 model can be utilize an internet connection through either a physical, ethernet connection or a Wi-Fi connection.

Ethernet Connection

If you have a physical source of internet (i.e., a switch, an RJ45 wall port for ethernet cables, a wireless access point, or a router) in the room the conference phone will be utilized, you can use the provided PoE Injector and ethernet cable to connect your GAC2570 phone to that internet source.

  1. Ensure that the device is powered on.
  2. Connect an ethernet cable from the internet source to the LAN port of the PoE Injector.

Quick Tip: If you are not using the PoE Injector and the device is relying on its battery, you can plug the ethernet cable connected to your internet source to the Network port of the conference phone instead.

  3. Connect an additional ethernet cable to the Network ports of both the PoE Injector and the GAC2570 phone.

✔ After the conference phone has been connected to an internet source, the conference phone should show as connected to the internet with service.

NOTE: If the conference phone is showing that it has no service or has any warning icons, contact our Technical Support team to further troubleshoot any connection issues.

Wi-Fi Connection

If your network topology does not allow for the conference phone to use an ethernet connection, you can connect the phone wirelessly via Wi-Fi instead.

  1. Ensure that the device is powered on.
  2. Swipe down on the conference phone's display to show its Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi to make sure Wi-Fi is enabled.
  4. Tap and hold Wi-Fi to view the conference phone's Wi-Fi Settings.
  5. In the Wi-Fi Settings menu, select your Wi-Fi network's SSID from the Available WLAN list section.
  6. Tap the Password box and use the keyboard to type in your Wi-Fi network's password.
  7. Once you have entered your password, tap Connect.

✔ You should now see your Wi-Fi network showing as “Connected” in the Available WLAN list.

NOTE: If you are not able to connect to the Wi-Fi network, be sure that the password you entered is correct and uses any capitalization needed.

If you continue having issues connecting to your internet network, you can contact our technical support team for further troubleshooting help.

Optional Ports and Accessories

Located on the sides of the conference phone's display, there are various ports that can be used to connect additional devices.

These ports include the following:

  • Kensington Lock - To secure the conference phone in place, you can tie a strong string or cable from this lock to a stationary object, such as a table.
  • HDMI IN Port - If you have a GVC32XX series camera connected to the GAC conference phone's Media (M) Port, you can connect a PC to the conference phone with an HDMI cord share a screen/presentation with the Presentation Mode function of the Conference Control application.

Quick Tip: Presentation Mode allows you to share a presentation from another device to a GVC device. If a GAC conference phone is connected to the GVC device as a remote controller, then the PC can be connected to the phone instead of directly to the GVC camera.

  • Micro-USB Port - To have the conference phone act as a microphone and speaker for a conference call hosted on another device, you can connect a micro-USB cable from that device to the conference phone. If needed, the GAC2570 can be connected to a device as a speaker through a Bluetooth connection instead.

    • GVC32XX Series Camera - If you have a GVC32XX series camera for video conferencing, you can connect a micro-USB cable to the conference phone and a GVC32XX to have the conference phone act as an external microphone and speaker.
  • USB Port - If needed, you can connect an additional speaker to the GAC2570 using a USB cable.
  • 3.5 mm Port - You can connect a 3.5 mm AUX cable to a speaker and the conference phone.
