Start a Call

Using this application, there are multiple ways calls can be placed. You can make a call by dialing an extension number or phone number or starting a call from the Contacts, Voicemail, Call History, and Chat tabs.

Dial a Phone Number

1. Tap the Keypad button to pull up a dial pad.

2. Dial the extension or phone number to call.

3. Tap the Call button to start the call.

Use a Quick Dial

Quick dials act as a shortcut or speed dial for quickly contacting other people. A tap on a quick dial places the call instantly. These quick dials can also be used for other functions like transferring.

To view your Quick Dials, go to the Quick Dial tab of the app.

To call someone using a Quick Dial, tap the quick dial that has been setup to dial that person.

To use the keypad during a call:

  1. On the call screen, touch the Dialpad button.
  2. Dial digits using the keypad.
  3. To close the keypad and return to the active call view, tap Hide Keypad.

Place a Call on Hold

Users can put a call on hold to pause the conversation so that none of the user and call participant(s) can hear each other.

To put a call on hold, touch the Hold button on the call screen. Touch this button again to resume the call.

Park a Call

When a caller is placed on hold, their call remains on your app so that when you are ready to resume the call, you can do so from just your StratusHUB mobile app.

As an alternative to placing a call on hold, you can park a call. Parking a call moves the call to a virtual “parking spot” or park queue so that the call is no longer being hosted on your device. When a call is parked, it waits on hold within a park queue listening to your music on hold. A park queue is a call queue that has the sole purpose of keeping callers on hold until their call is retrieved from it.

Parks can be parked in two ways: Static Parking and Dynamic Parking. If you want to pick where the call is parked, you would use Static Parking. To allow the system to pick a park for the call, Dynamic Parking can be used instead.

To learn more about how you can use either form of parking on your StratusHUB mobile app, review the module below:

Static Parking

By default, Park 1, Park 2, and Park 3 will have the extension numbers of 701, 702, and 703 respectively. To park a call in Park 1, you would dial 701 while doing a transfer, which will connect the caller with that specific park.

Diagram of a user dialing a park directly to have a call parked in a specific call park. The diagram shows how the call travels through the phone system from the user, to the park, and onwards to another user.

To park an active call in a specific park with static call parking…

Method 1: Use the Call Park Button

While talking with a caller, the StratusHUB mobile app will display active call features you can use to handle the call, including a call park button, which can be used to start the parking process.

To use this button to park a call in a specific park…

1. Tap the Call Park button during the call.

2. In the menu that appears, tap the Call Park option.

3. After the Call Park page pulls up, tap the Park icon next to the park that the call should wait on hold within.

Quick Tip: Multiple calls can be parked within a single park if needed.

✔ You should see a confirmation that the call was parked in the park that you selected.

You should also be able to see the parked call in that same park within the app's Call Park page.

Method 2: Transfer Directly to a Park

Calls can also be parked by transferring the call to a park queue, similarly to how you would transfer a call to a coworker.

To park a call through a transfer…

1.  On an active call, tap the Transfer button.

2. When prompted to select the type of transfer to use, tap Blind Transfer.

3. On the Keypad, dial the extension number of the park you would like to park the call in.

Reminder: By default, Park 1, Park 2, and Park 3 will have the extension numbers of 701, 702, and 703 respectively

4. Tap the Call button on the Keypad to send the transfer on its way.

✔ You should now be able to see the call parked in the park you transferred the call to when you view the app's Call Park page.

Dynamic Parking

With dynamic parking, the phone system picks where the caller will be parked for you. The system would pick the most available park queue.

Diagram of a user dialing *** to have the system park a call. The diagram shows how the call travels through the phone system from the user, to the park, and onwards to another user.

This can be the most convenient way to park calls using the app since there are not readily available park buttons.

Method 1: Use the Call Park Button

While talking with a caller, the StratusHUB mobile app will display active call features you can use to handle the call, including a call park button, which can be used to start the parking process.

To use this button to dynamically park a call…

1. Tap the Call Park button during the call.

2. In the menu that appears, tap the Dynamic Park option.

✔ You should see a confirmation that the call was dynamically parked, and which park queue is now holding the call.

You should also be able to see the parked call in that same park within the app's Call Park page.

Method 2: Dial the *** Code

On any SpectrumVoIP phone and softphone, a call can be dynamically parked by dialing ***.

1. On an active call, tap the Dialpad button.

2. Dial *** while in an active call.

✔ After *** is dialed, you will hear an announcement that states which park the caller has been transferred to. Phones that have the park keys will see the LED light for the park change to red to show it is occupied.

You should also be able to see the parked call in that same park within the app's Call Park page.

Retrieve a Parked Call

Calls can be retrieved from a park from any phone and softphone on your account. With the StratusHUB mobile app, you can retrieve a parked call using either the Call Park page of the app or by calling the park's extension number.

To review either of these methods for picking up parked calls, review the module below:

Method 1: Use the Call Park Page

Once a call has been parked, you can review the parked call in the Call Park page of the app. Under a park, the parked call will be listed with the caller's Caller ID information and the name and extension number of the user that parked the call.

To pick up a parked call, tap the Retrieve icon next to the parked call.

After tapping the Retrieve icon, your app should receive a call. Accept the call to fully retrieve the parked call and speak with the caller.

Method 2: Call the Park

By default, Park 1, Park 2, and Park 3 will have the extension numbers of 701, 702, and 703 respectively. To pick up a call from Park 1, you would dial 701, which will connect the parked call to your phone.

Note: Park 1, Park 2, and Park 3, will be 701, 702, and 703 by default, unless a request has been made to reassign the parks to different extension numbers.

More park queues can be added. Some companies may do this if they want separate park queues for different departments or groups of phones.

Transfer a Call

While handling a call, it may be necessary to pass the phone call along to a user, call queue, or an external phone number. This can be done through transferring.

There are three different types of transfer that can be utilized depending on how exactly the call needs to be transferred and handled:

  1. Blind Transfer - Transfer a call directly to another person without talking to that second person.  This is sometimes referred to as a “cold”, “unassisted”, or "unattended" transfer.
  2. Assisted Transfer - Speak with the person being transferred to before completely transferring the call.  This is sometimes referred to as a “warm” or “attended” transfer.
  3. Voicemail Transfer - Transfer a caller directly to a general mailbox or the voicemailbox of another user.

Use the module below to review how you can use these types of transfers on your StratusHUB mobile app:

Blind Transfer

A blind or a cold transfer allows you to transfer a call to another destination without establishing a conversation with this new call recipient. The first call is put on hold until the call is transferred successfully.

1. On an active call, tap the Transfer button.

2. When prompted to select the type of transfer to use, tap Blind Transfer.

3. On the Keypad, type the other person's extension or telephone number.

Use the Other Pages of the App to Transfer a Call

You can use the other tabs of the app to start a call with the person receiving the transfer.

If you have a contact for the other person, you can go to the Contacts tab, select a contact to transfer the call to, and tap the Call icon next to their contact number.

If you have created a quick dial for the person you would like to send the call tp, go to the Quick Dial tab and tap the quick dial you would like to use.

If you have talked with the person to transfer the call to in the past, go to the Call History tab, select a call log from that person, and tap Call option to transfer to that person.

If you intend to transfer the caller to someone that has left a voicemail message, go to the Voicemail tab, tap a voicemail left by the person to transfer the call to, and tap the Call button.

To transfer the caller to a person you have messaged before, go to the Chat tab, tap the conversation with the person you would like to call, tap the Options icon, and select Call.

4. Tap the Call button on the Keypad to send the transfer on its way.

Assisted Transfer

An attended transfer, also known as a warm transfer, allows you to call the destination you want to transfer to, which can be a great way to check and make sure that destination is ready for a transfer.

To make an attended transfer:

1. On an active call, tap the Transfer button.

2. When prompted to select the type of transfer to use, tap Assisted Transfer.

2. On the Keypad type the other party's extension or telephone number and press the Call button.

Use the Other Pages of the App to Start a Separate Call

You can use the other tabs of the app to start a call with the person receiving the transfer.

If you have a contact for the other person, you can go to the Contacts tab, select a contact to transfer the call to, and tap the Call icon next to their contact number.

If you have created a quick dial for the person you would like to send the call to, go to the Quick Dial tab and tap the quick dial you would like to use.

3. Speak with the second caller once they answer.

4. When both callers are ready, tap the Complete Transfer button to complete the transfer.

Quick Tip: If you need to cancel the transfer, tap the Cancel Transfer button to end the second call. Resume the first call to give the first caller their options.

Voicemail Transfer

One of the dialable codes that can be used on the Stratus mobile app is 03. When 03 is dialed in front of an extension number, you can be directly taken to that extension number's voicemailbox.

For example… If a user needs to leave a voicemail for extension 100, they can dial 0-3-1-0-0 from their app to be taken directly to x100's mailbox. They can wait for the greeting to stop playing to leave a message.

If a user needs to check extension 100's mailbox for them, they can dial 0-3-1-0-0. Once they hear the mailbox's greeting, they can press star (*) to interrupt the greeting and enter x100's voicemail PIN when prompted.

Quick Tip: To make contacting a mailbox easier, you can create a Quick Dial  that dials 03 and the extension number of the mailbox.

You can also add a Contact for a mailbox. This contact would be set to have 03 and an extension number as the contact number for the contact.

For the examples above, the quick dial and contact are set to dial 03 and the extension number 500 so that calling or transferring a call using them sends the caller to an example general mailbox directly.

The 03 code can be used to transfer an active call to a user's voicemailbox as well. To transfer a caller to a voicemailbox using the 03 code…

1. On an active call, tap the Transfer button.

2. When prompted to select the type of transfer to use, tap Blind Transfer.

3. Follow one of the dropdowns below to send the call to the mailbox:

Use a Quick Dial

1. If you have a Quick Dial for the mailbox, tap the Back button at the top of the Keypad page.

2. Go to the Quick Dial tab.

3. Tap the Quick Dial for the mailbox.

Dial on the Keypad

1. On the keypad, dial 03 and the user's extension number.

2. Tap the Call button on the Keypad to send the transfer on its way.

To form a conference call:

  1. On the call screen, tap the Add call button.
  2. Use the Keypad to dial the other party's extension or telephone number.

Use the Other Pages of the App to Start a Separate Call

If you have a contact for the other person, you can go to the Contacts tab, select a contact of the person to add to the call, and tap the Call icon next to their contact number.

If you have created a quick dial for the person you would like to add to the call, go to the Quick Dial tab and tap the quick dial you would like to use.

If you intend to add someone to the call that has left a voicemail message before, go to the Voicemail tab, tap a voicemail left by the person to add to the call, and tap the Call button.

To add a person to the call from an existing chat/SMS conversation, go to the Chat tab, tap the conversation with the person you would like to call, tap the Options icon, and select Call.

✔ The first call will be placed on hold while the second party is dialed.

  3. Tap the Merge call button when the second caller is ready to join the call.
  4. To add more people, repeat steps 1 to 3.
  5. To dismiss a conference call, touch the End Call button.

Quick Tip: Ending the call will only remove you from the call. The other call's participants will be able to continue speaking with each other.
