Reset a HT812 to Factory Default Settings

In some situations, it may be necessary to factory reset your Grandstream HT812. This may need to be done to troubleshoot issues with the device or clear out an incorrect configuration.

WARNING: Restoring the Factory Default Settings will delete all configuration information on the phone.

If needed, please backup or print all the settings before you restore to the factory default settings.

Use the Reset Button

One way you can reset your HT812 device is by pressing and holding the reset button that lies behind the reset hole located on the back panel of the HT812.

To reset your Grandstream HT812 using this method…

  1. Unplug the ethernet cable.
  2. Locate the reset hole on the back panel of your HT812.
  3. Insert a pin in this hole and press it for about 7 seconds.
  4. Take out the pin.

✔ Your HT812 ATA should now be reset back to its factory default settings.

From here, it can be reconfigured with the help of one of our technical support team members.

Use the IVR Menu

If you have an analog phone connected to your HT812, you can dial and use the IVR menu to command the HT812 to restore itself to its factory default settings.

To reset your Grandstream HT812 using this method…

  1. On a phone connected to the HT812, dial *** to access the IVR.
  2. Enter 99 and wait for the reset voice prompt.
  3. Enter the encoded MAC address of the HT812.

    Encode a HT812's MAC Address

Anytime you need to enter the MAC address of your HT812 in the IVR menu, the MAC address will need to be encoded to be typed in. This is due to letters not easily being able to be typed in using a dial pad on a phone.

    1. Locate the MAC address of the HT812.

Quick Tip: The MAC address will appear as the 12-digit HEX number on the bottom of the device.

    2. Use the following table to see how the MAC address should be encoded to be typed in:

    Key Mapping
    0 - 9 0 - 9
A 22 (Pressing the "2" key twice should show “A” on the LCD)
    B 222
    C 2222
D 33 (Pressing the "3" key twice should show “D" on the LCD)
    E 333
    F 3333

For example… If the MAC address is 000b8200e395, it would be keyed in as “0002228200333395”

  4. Wait 15 seconds for the device to automatically reboot.

✔ Your HT812 ATA should now be reset back to its factory default settings.

From here, it can be reconfigured with the help of one of our technical support team members.
