Register a Handset to Its Base Station
In order for the cordless handset to be able to place and receive calls, the cordless handset will need to be registered to a Base Station.
To register the cordless handset to a base station on-site…
- Press the OK button on the handset, and then select Settings.
- In the Settings menu, select option 6. Registration, then select Register Handset.
- Long-press the signal button on the base station until the top LED light begins to flash.
- At the same time, select Base 1 on the handset.
- Allow the handset to search for the base for a few moments.
- Press the OK button after finding a base station successfully.
- Enter 0000 when prompted for a PIN.
- Press the Done button to complete the registration.
Reconnect a Previously Registered Handset
If the handset having issues connecting was previously registered to a base station, do the following:
- If the handset's belt clip is attached to the back of the handset, carefully remove it.
- Using a card or fingers, carefully pop the back cover off the handset.
- Remove the battery.
- Hold down the "OK" button for 5 seconds.
- Re-insert the battery.
- Carefully pop the back cover of the handset back on. Be sure to avoid pressing any of the buttons while doing so to avoid disrupting the handset's reboot.
-
Wait for the handset to power on and check for a “Searching for base” notification.
✔ Once the phone pairs to its base again, you should hear a loud tone.
- With the handset, place a test call to a cellphone or another user's phone.
Troubleshoot Connection Issues
Handset Disconnects While Moving Around
If the cordless handset keeps disconnecting when you walk a certain distance away from the base station, try moving closer to the base station and re-registering the handset.
Note: The DECT range for using the handset inside is 30m-50m depending on the infrastructure of the office. Outside, the handsets have a range of up to 300m in ideal conditions.
If the handset disconnects again when you walk a little farther away, then the handset may be out of range. The following factors can affect how well handsets can be used in an environment:
- Travelling with the handsets far away from the base station past obstacles that interfere with radio transmission (e.g., thick walls, metal structures/appliances, and radio equipment) may cause the handsets to disconnect or experience audio issues.
- If a DECT Repeater is in use, its limit of concurrent calls should be checked. The Yealink RT30 can handle up to 4 concurrent calls.
- DECT Repeaters should be placed away from electrical appliances, such as printers, microwaves, computers, and network equipment.
- If multiple DECT repeaters are in use, they need to be kept a minimum of 10 meters away from other repeaters to avoid overlapping coverage.
Note: If the handsets deregister often because agents are walking too far away, investing in a DECT repeater may be a great solution. We have a listing for a DECT repeater on our online store.
If you do have an RT30 DECT Repeater, use the guide below to review registering, placing, and testing the repeater:

Handset Lost Connection and Cannot Reconnect
If the cordless handset lost its connection suddenly and cannot reconnect, consider checking another internet device to see if it has a connection.
If another device does not have a connection, then it is possible that you may be experiencing an internet outage. It is recommended to contact your Internet Service Provider or IT team to check if there are any reported outages.
If you have not already attempted a reboot and reconnect using the steps above, do the following:
Note: If the handset is still experiencing issues connecting, contact our Technical Support team to troubleshoot the issue further with the assistance of a support analyst.
