SpectrumFax - Fax Through Email
Review how you can send faxes through email using your SpectrumFax services.
SpectrumFax supports faxing through email. You can send a fax using your email client by doing the following:
- Open an email client that uses the email address set as your faxing email.
-
Start a new email and input the following:

- To - Type the recipient's fax number followed by @spectrumfax.com with a +1 at the beginning. (+1<phone number>@spectrumfax.com).
-
Subject - Consider using this field to type a note about the fax to help keep record of each eFax using your email.
Note: Recipients of your eFax will be able to see what is typed in the Subject of the email. Only the attached PDF files that are sent, so there is no worry about your email signature being included.
-
Fax File - Insert/attach the PDF file that will be faxed.
WARNING: Make sure the fax file being sent is a PDF. Only PDF files are able to be faxed at this moment.
Make sure that the attached PDF does not use any special characters or spaces in its filename.
Quick Tip: If there are several forms that need to be faxed that are not combined in a single document, you can attach the additional forms (as PDFs) as well.
It is recommended to place a test fax to a coworker with the forms attached as practice and to confirm the order they are sent looks appropriate.
-
Body - Include extra information if needed. If you have an email signature, delete the email signature from the body of the email unless the recipient should be able to see it.
Note: Recipients of your eFax will be able to see what is typed in the Body of the email.
If you have an email signature, remove the email signature from the body of the email before sending the fax.
- If needed, include a Cover Letter in your attached PDF file that will be faxed, or attach an additional cover page PDF, like so:

WARNING: To have the Cover Page displayed on top, attach the cover page first and attach the actual fax second.
If needed, place test faxes with both a test fax and a cover page to make sure the way you attach the files sends them in the right order. -
Send the email.
✔ You should receive a confirmation email from Spectrum Fax Service (notifications@spectrumfax.com) showing that the fax was submitted successfully unless outbound email notifications were not enabled.

This confirmation email will include a Fax ID that can be used for troubleshooting or record-keeping for compliance purposes.
For recipients using e-Faxing, the email they receive for the fax will look similar to this:
