Personal Voicemail Timeout
Review how you can adjust your extension number's ring timeout if you are receiving voicemails in a cellular device's mailbox instead of your own.
If you are forwarding calls to your cellphone or have your cellphone ringing simultaneously with a desk phone, your extension number's Ring Timeout can be adjusted to control whether or not an unanswered call is managed by your extension number's voicemailbox or the external number's voicemailbox.
Note: Typically, cellphone users have a 30 second timeout by default. This can be verified by calling the number and taking note of how long it takes to route to voicemail.
To adjust your ring timeout to control where you receive voicemails for calls...
- Navigate to your Answering Rules page.
Quick Tip: If you are a Stratus admin, you can edit a user's ring timeout by going to their Answering Rules settings from the Users page.
- Use the Ring for dropdown to select how long (in seconds) your extension number should ring before forwarding to voicemail.
- If the user's extension number should receive the voicemail, select 20 seconds or lower.
- If the user's cellphone should receive the voicemail, select 30 seconds or higher.
